Today is a big day of firsts for me. . . First time to look for new York city jobs; first time to visit the new yorker; first experience at the new York public library; first visit to a pagent (the terrace drag show does NOT count).
The new yorker was everything I was looking for, beautiful space, smart people, good graphic arts. And what better way to follow up than with a visit to the Miss Universe organization. After both visits, I must say that there is something really appealing about in house work. Still, they don’t have the resources to train new lawyers. The real question today? How can one get the necessary experience if law firms aren’t hiring???
And so, the job hunt continues. I am sitting and writing my followup from the main reading room of the new York public library. The gilded ceiling is phenomenal.
Tomorrow will be an even bigger day.
Harris for Mayor March 9, 2009

Pittsburgh is one of the coolest cities in America. Great neighborhoods, good schools, and a rich culture. Like much of the rust belt, it is still tied to the weight of an old industry, but the city is brimming with potential.
Dok Harris, one of the sharpest people I know & a native Pittsburgher, is running for Mayor. He returned to Pittsburgh to get a JD/MBA and wants to apply his skills to revitalizing “The City of Champions.” Dok gets business. He also gets labor (both new and old). And he gets Pittsburgh. He will make a phenomenal Mayor.
