Why not shorten the Senatorial holiday? Doesn’t the attempted Christmas bombing warrant a vote on the proposed head of the TSA–an individual who has already received bipartisan support from two committees?

And, so what if S. DeMint (R-SC) is up in arms about the potential unionization of the TSA? Who cares that he is threatening to filibuster? We should let him. Why? Because anyone who decides to filibuster this appointment, to refuse to give an up or down vote to filling this crucial security position. . . well, those individuals could fairly be called terrorist sympathizers.

Unionization-puhleez! I didn’t know that it had prevented the first responders on 9/11 from acting. Oh, and Sgt. Munley’s union rep must told her that she wasn’t supposed to get involved at Ft. Hood.

S. DeMint should get up to the podium and talk for as long as he can. If he keels over, well: it’s a good thing that his health insurance came with a public option. He’ll get good treatment! Far better than I would, that’s for sure.

On a related note, I wonder how much my cousin had to pay for her prenatal care & the delivery of Windsor, ON’s first child of 2010. Blue Cross estimates the procedure + prenatal to run about $7600 in the US, and that seems reasonable (let’s ignore any risk of complications). Going with her claim of being 24 (ahem), that the hubby’s rates incorporate her costs to some extent, and assuming that she could have stayed on her parent’s insurance until she was 21. . . well, it looks like she just ran up a $1200/year bill. Good thing her insurance was mandatory.

This Christmas, She and I decided to exchange self-made gifts. You know the drill: make, bake, grow, sew, and the like. We both had fun, learned new skills, and thought that it was a really positive experience all around (and, unlike traditional Christmas gifting, we generated net positive utils!)
